LIBERTY HOMESTEAD QUILT BOOKS
I've been designing quilts and writing quilt books for many, many years now. This category includes all the Liberty Homestead quilt books that are currently available, including the popular Farmhouse Quilts series. I mostly make wall size quilts, but the books also include a few larger projects, small banners, and pillows. All my books contain color pictures of completed projects, full size pattern pieces, and complete instructions. I give instructions for rotary cutting, strip piecing where possible, and any other method that will simplify the process, making it more enjoyable to create and complete your project.
In my books you'll find a variety of techniques - traditional hand appliqué, machine appliqué, & wool appliqué, hand quilting and utility stitching (the big stitch), machine piecing, and hand embroidery. Many of my quilts are scrap quilts - you can make use of that wonderful scrap stash you've been accumulating! (Or you can take a look at the Scrap Stash section of the shopping cart to add to it!). And, of course, I use my own Hand Dyed Cottons extensively, to give my quilts that slightly aged, well-loved, traditional look that's become the trademark of Liberty Homestead quilts. I hope you enjoy browsing through my books and - Make A Quilt!

HAND DYED COTTONS
Ask any quilter and they'll tell you - it's all about the fabric! And I am very proud to offer my own line of Hand Dyed Cottons. These beautiful fabrics, called "sueded cotton", are the same fabrics I use in all my quilts. These 100% cotton fabrics have a wonderful soft texture that makes them a delight to piece, appliqué, and quilt. The depth of color and subtle shading only achieved in hand dyeing give your quilts that wonderfully distinctive finish you see in my Liberty Homestead quilts. It's a winning combination of color and texture that gives your quilts that heirloom quality.
All my fabrics are 44"/45" wide, are ready to use, and come with a fabric care sheet. We sell the Hand Dyes in 2 yard bundles, but 1 yard cuts are available upon request. We also offer fat quarter packs as well as ¼ yard and ½ yard gradation bundles. We do our best to keep our dye lots identical, but since the dyes from our sources may vary, there may be slight differences in the fabric. We recommend you buy all the fabric you need for your project at the same time.
As a quilter, I understand that fabric & color are what it's all about. I'm sure you'll love working with these fabrics as much as I do!

LIBERTY HOMESTEAD PATTERNS
In years past I have published an extensive line of individual quilt patterns - over 100 titles! Since 1994 I have concentrated mostly on writing books. But lately I have again started publishing a few quilt patterns, and I'm thinking I may be doing more along these lines in the future. So I've included a pattern category in my shopping cart. Look for this section to grow in the coming months - and we'll see how it goes!

LIBERTY HOMESTEAD KITS
Over the past years of traveling the country doing quilt shows, quilt kits have come to be my "problem child". It seems that when I've decided to make a kit project, I'm always asked for the pattern only. Or if it's a pattern or project from a book, I'm asked if I won't make it into a kit. Or the kit is a great idea - can you do it in blue? You can see my dilemma!
I used to tell people I'd need to have a fabric store to make kits available. Well, now I have a fabric store. So. I'm experimenting with the kit market again. This category will be ever changing, and I can't even tell you what to expect. I'm including a few kits we have here in the store right now. These may disappear quickly, some might become permanent, there may be new ones in the future, I may one day know more about what I'm doing. All I can say is - the time to buy a kit is when you see it!

SCRAP STASH
Many of my quilts are scrap quilts - these always seem to be my favorites. And being quilters, it goes without saying that we love fabric! One of my favorite T-Shirts I see women wearing at quilt shows is the one that says "Fabric Acquisitions". I think that says it all.
One of the best ways to add to your scrap stash - which is a crucial element in any well-stocked sewing room - is the good ol' fat quarter. To this end, I've put together little fat quarter packs of coordinating fabrics for quick and easy stash builders. I've chosen colors and prints and fabrics that I love to use, and that I think will be easy to use in a variety of projects. You never know when you'll need a little more blue, or just a bit of a stripe, maybe just the perfect tiny print. Your scrap stash is the answer here - and it's just plain fun!

GENERAL STORE
2 years ago we opened up the Liberty Homestead Mercantile, which has long been a dream of mine. You can see pictures of the store in my virtual tour on the quilt retreat page. In the mercantile we have all kinds of treasures - mainly a mixture of American antiques and quilting supplies. But there are lots of other little goodies from time to time just to keep it interesting and fun.
That's what this General Store category is all about. This, again, will be an ever-changing category. There will be some items that we offer all the time, and some that come and go. We may occasionally feature a few of the vintage sewing items that we specialize in at the mercantile - these are usually one of a kind. You never know what you'll find in here - it's the next best thing to shopping the mercantile in person!
